I have spent the last decade and a half working in AWS. In that time, Amazon has done a really good job at moving more and more of the work into the cloud. Especially with Workspaces, it’s gotten to the point where your home computer can just be a dumb terminal (but baggy pants are evergreen). As a result, there aren’t a lot of updates that are necessary to run in the cloud. You can quickly find yourself going down a rabbit hole of updates just to make use of anything modern on your local machine.
What is this post for? It’s just an excuse to play around with Github Actions instead of having to run a sync from my computer to update this site. Will it be an incentive to update this site more frequently? Maybe. Maybe not. It’s just satisfying to see little automations run when you push GO.
